Our Goals
Mikeysline was set up with four main aims.
To this day, they help to provide the focus and motivation behind the work that we do:
- Help fight the Highland wide problem of chronic loneliness
- Provide a light in the dark for those in the depths of depression
- Offer a distraction from thoughts leaning towards self-harm
- Tackle head on the staggering rate of suicide in the Highlands.
Our Mission
Mikeysline exists to prevent suicide and support people’s mental health across all age groups in the North of Scotland. Our staff and volunteers engage with communities, workplaces and schools to tackle the stigma attached to mental health by raising awareness and highlighting influencing factors.
We provide peer support and a ‘lived experience’ understanding via face-to-face, online support as well as our text-based support, using a variety of platforms to enhance accessibility of our services.
Our Values
People
Our team have an understanding and/or first-hand experience of mental health and the impact of suicide, enabling us to delivery compassionate timely support. We are committed to delivering a consistently high-quality service and to work at the heart of our local communities.
Service
Through highlighting our delivery, reach and ethos, our aim is that people see Mikeysline as a symbol synonymous with trust in the community.
Culture
People are at the heart of our organisation from our staff and volunteers to everyone we directly support and we prioritise the mental health needs of our community.
Service Delivery
We are focused on providing confidential, non-judgemental support and promoting open, active listening whilst being accessible, evidence based and responsive to the needs of our community.
Community Sustainability
We are committed to finding the most sustainable solutions to our ways of working and service delivery whilst reaching those at most need of support. We will remain true to our grass roots ethos in supporting our local communities.
Some of our priorities for the next few years include:
Identifying smarter ways to working whilst maximising the use of our workforce and resources to best meet the needs of our communities.
Expanding our reach into rural communities, growing our awareness raising activities and targeting priority groups most at need of support.
Engage with our communities in a meaningful way, maximising impact and outcomes.
Focusing our operations where they are most needed and as appropriate working in partnership with others to maximise impact and teach those most at need.
Developing our workforce to ensure local visibility and future resilience.
Ensuring service delivery reflects our strategic focus and maximises the use of our workforce and resources.
