Nairn Mural Champions Connection and Care

A new community mural has been unveiled in Nairn celebrating connection, kindness and intergenerational support.

The collaborative artwork outside the town’s fire station is the latest addition to the Murals for Mikeysline campaign, which has produced several pieces signposting towards the mental health and suicide prevention charity’s services throughout the Highlands, Islands and Moray.

The colourful inspiring piece created by North Kessock based FRESH PAINT, reflects the importance of compassion and building connection across the ages.

The project, part of Mikeysline’s ‘Bee the Change’ movement was delivered in partnership with High Life Highland, whose young leaders initiative has been instrumental in shaping the mural’s message of understanding across ages.

Allana Stables, Bee the Change Manager at Mikeysline: “Our first mural in the Victorian Market in Inverness was created to encourage people to nurture their minds through nature - as John Muir beautifully said, “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.

This kind of community led creative engagement isn’t just about brightening spaces but strengthening the connections that support wellbeing through every stage of life, and we really hope it sparks many meaningful conversations among the people of Nairn.”

Our partnership with Mikeysline on intergenerational projects has created meaningful benefits for everyone involved, and this amazing mural project has given our young leaders the chance to contribute to something lasting. Having our Yellow Hoodie included in the mural makes this message so meaningful because it represents a shared identity and purpose - it symbolises our young leaders’ connection to the programme and its values around mental health. By seeing something they recognise and relate to within the artwork, it strengthens their sense of pride, belonging, and ownership, while also reinforcing the importance of the Mikeysline message they are helping share with the wider community.
