Mikeysline Invites Community in on World Suicide Prevention Day

This World Suicide Prevention Day, Inverness based mental health charity Mikeysline is inviting the community into its city centre hive to learn more about their lifeline services and why, 10 years on, their work remains as vital as ever.

On Wednesday, 10^th September, World Suicide Prevention Day, the team will open the doors to their Strothers Lane hub between 10am-2pm, providing an opportunity for anyone in the community to meet staff members, learn more about the support on offer and look through the merchandise which helps to fund their crucial work.

Mikeysline CEO, Emily Stokes, said: “As we prepare to mark our 10^th anniversary, Mikeysline is needed more than ever. The expansion of our services over the past decade shows just how many people need us and the importance of service accessibility for those in our local communities, particularly those who live rurally.

This World Suicide Prevention Day we hope to shine a light on that reality and show people that it’s ok not to be ok - help is available if they need it. By opening the doors of our Inverness Hive, we hope anyone keen to learn more about our services, or volunteering and fundraising opportunities, will pop by.”

Mikeysline’s textline is available 365 evenings a year supporting people of all ages with anything that may be impacting their mental wellbeing from societal and financial pressures, to dealing with bereavement and loneliness.

Their Hive on the Road, a converted transit van which acts as a mobile support unit, ensures that they reach the most rural communities in Highland and Moray.

They offer face-to-face support in Hives across the region – at their Inverness headquarters, and in their Dingwall, Alness, Nairn, Tain, Thurso, Wick and Elgin hubs. Here, people can engage in one-to-one support, or at some venues join in group sessions for adults, men, families and young people.
