Mikeysline Bee the Change Choir Announced as Support Act for Nathan Evans & the Saint PHNX Band

Organisers are delighted to announce that the Mikeysline Bee the Change Choir will open the evening supporting Scottish sensation Nathan Evans & the Saint PHNX Band at the Northern Meeting Park in Inverness on Friday 29^th May.

They join previously announced support act, Banchory singer-songwriter and winner of the Scottish Music Award breakthrough artist (2024) Calum Bowie.

With tickets close to selling out, fans are encouraged to secure their place now to avoid disappointment.

The music ensemble was created by Charleston Academy pupil support assistant Diane Lennan alongside Highland Council youth development officer Nikki Mowat as a safe, supportive space where pupils facing challenges, including mental health difficulties, additional support needs, behavioural issues and exploring LGBTQ+ identities could connect through music.

Forming a partnership with local mental health charity and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline, they then became the Bee The Change Choir.

Since then, the choir has gone from strength to strength, performing with Scottish singer‑songwriter Callum Beattie, appearing at Peat & Diesel’s Black Isle Belter festival and performing as part of Highland’s Got Talent.

Nikki and Diane said: “We are so unbelievably proud of the choir and their achievements to date. Just over a year ago these young people could not face us and sing. They have grown in confidence, supported one another and worked incredibly hard to get to where they are today. It is so rewarding seeing the positive impact the choir is having, and we are honoured to be part of that journey”

To witness their growth has been moving; they have transformed from hesitant rehearsals to a group that radiates confidence and joy.

The invitation to perform at the Northern Meeting Park on Friday 29 May is a huge achievement. Opening for Nathan Evans is a dream come true for the students and having Kenny Smith from Torridon join us to play on our original song adds a special layer of Highland heritage to the event.

They really are 'Being the Change' they wish to see, proving that music can be a powerful bridge to self-belief and a brighter future.”
